For this activity, we were given the chance to experiment with portraits using a 5-in-1 reflector. These first two images show the difference a reflector makes in a photograph. For the first shot, a diffuser was used. It was taken away for the second image:
With the second image, the subject is too bright and none of her details are seen. And while the shutter speed could have been increased to help take out some of the brightness, her face wouldn’t have been as detailed as when a diffuser was used.
When taking this photo, a white reflector was used. Because the sun was very bright, the reflector was bent or ‘feathered’ to even out the light.
For this image, a silver reflector was used.
